My name is Gwen Adler, I am currently a sophomore at Barrington High School – in Barrington, IL. I have been playing volleyball since the 6th grade. I play for Pipeline Volleyball Club, I am a team captain for my club team. I am 5’10” and 150 pounds. I am a multisport athlete, rostered on varsity volleyball and basketball as a freshman. I earned 1st team all-conference for basketball my freshman year.
Any team that I have been a part of, I tend to take on the leadership role. I have been team captain for my club team since I started with the program in middle school. I have been named team captain for my AAU basketballl program (Illinois Elite) as well. My position as setter is a perfect fit for me. I get to run the offense, read the court, read my teammates; I thrive in this role.
I am the first one in the gym and the last one to leave. I am always looking for opportunities for extra lessons, training, practices with my coaches and trainers.
Being a student-athlete in multiple sports has taught me what I need to do to manage my time. Many days, I go straight from high school practice to travel practice (other sport); on the chance I have only one that day I am likely working out with a trainer targeting speed, agility, general strength training. I have learned to manage this type of schedule for years while also getting my homework done. Through hardnwork and time management, I have earned a 4.2 GPA in high school.
It has been my dream since I started playing competitive sports to play at the collegiate level. Academics are very importnant to me, I hope to work in the medical field soemday. My goal is to play volleyball at the highest level possible.
