Personal Statement

For as long as I can remember, I have always had a volleyball in my hand.  I inherited my passion and love of volleyball from my mother, who played in college at Graceland University.  She now has passed all of her knowledge onto me while still coaching after 25 years.  I have not only seen the hard work and dedication it takes to be a college athlete, but also the commitment to academics.  My parents have raised me to set standards high and do not stop until I achieve them, and I refused to settle for anything less.  I have overcome obstacles; for example, being an “A” Honor Roll student since 6th grade with dyslexia.  Not only do I embrace special athletic qualities, but I also embrace my personal characteristics.  I have always been a role model on and off the court.  Everyone has met someone who is a silent leader, they do not say much, but have the ability to impact your life by being a role model.  I am that person.  Although off the court I am an introvert, and do not say much, on the court I have always been the loud one, the encourager and the captain.  I believe a silent leader is just as influential as a leader who makes a lot of noise!  I love to win, but I love to play the sport I am passionate about even more.  Losing can be frustrating, but it is motivation to try harder, I am fortunate enough to play on a supporting school team, and an amazing club volleyball program that inspires me to grow as a person each and every day.  My coaches have taught me so much over the years, and I am ready to soak up more knowledge.  Playing volleyball at a college level is my goal, and I know that with the right program, coaches and teammates, I can do just that!

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
