My name is Teighan Harris and I am a 5'9 middle blocker and rightside hitter from Glenview, Illinois. Ever since I was little I wanted to play sports. All of my friends had found the sport they loved by the time they were in 5th grade and I was still looking. I found volleyball and decided to tried out at a competitive level when I was in 7th grade. My middle school offered boys and girls volleyball teams for 7th and 8th graders. I tried out both years only to be one spot away. After being shut down, I wanted to prove the coaches wrong, so I went and played for a no-cut club before my freshman year. I worked hard and found where I belonged. The summer before freshman year I worked harder than before. My main goal was to make one of the two freshman teams so that I could continue my journey, and eventually I had achieved my goal. After finishing my freshman season, I moved onto playing for a more competitive club, Division 1 VBC, my dream club since I started playing. I originally made the regional side of the girls program, but was asked to move to the elite side at the beginning of the season. Now, I am playing at Divison 1's new project, MOD VBC as a middle hitter on the 16u Elite Black team. I've worked very hard to get to where I am, but I know I have more goals I want to achieve.
As for my plans for the rest of my career, I plan on working hard to uphold or improve my 4.3 GPA and keep my spot on the Glenbrook South Titan volleyball team. I also play for the school lacrosse team in the spring and take part in 3 clubs, Student to Student, Young Progressives Club, and YoungLife. I have always dreamed of playing volleyball in college and will continue to work to improve. What makes me a good candidate for the collegiate level is that I'm a fighter. I play every game like it is my last, to the final point. I also crave criticism. If I am doing something incorrectly, I want people to tell me because I strive to be better. I have improved greatly when it comes to my defensive plays and am great at reading the court.
All options are great and I am so excited for this chapter of my life. I want to be the best I can be and playing at any level would be a dream come true. In the end, finding the perfect college for me is so important and finding a team with a strong connection is ideal. Women's volleyball is a family and I want to be apart of it.
