2020 Highlights
2018 HighlightsFor me, my volleyball career initiated when I was in 7th grade. My interest began with seeing other girls who were good at playing the sport find friendships, success and a piece of themselves they felt they were missing. After a failed attempt at my 7th grade tryouts, I joined an official volleyball club to build and improve the volleyball skills I had. Not making the 8th grade team despite the growth I had over the year inspired a lesson only I could teach myself: that my failures didn't have to limit me and could instead, strengthen me. From this experience, a new focused mind set was also produced, one that desired nothing more than to improve in all places I fell short. Missing my goal showed me that the commitment, work ethic and positive attitude you put forward measured the same importance as your skill level. I was fortunate enough to make the high school volleyball team my freshman year and to be named the first team captain. I then went on to play on the JV team sophomore year and earn a varsity spot my junior year. The roller coaster like effect my rudimentary years of volleyball had inspired one of the lessons I still believe to this day: everything happens for a reason and without failure, no growth can occur. I feel when looking for a potential college program, ones academics should also factor into the decision at hand. I believe I possess not only the talent to achieve my goal of being placed on a college team but also the determination, commitment and attitude to do so. Because of my successes and failures, I know I have what it takes to lead your team in times of weakness and in prosperous moments of success to victory.
