Hi, my name is Abbey Whittington!
When I was 13 years old my Dad and I went to the NCAA Women’s Volleyball final four in Pittsburgh. I had been playing since I was 10 years old, but I had never seen volleyball so big and captivating. The venue, the school bands, the large crowd, the coaches and of course the players had completely caught my attention. I knew then and there that I wanted to play volleyball at the highest level.
From that point on, I only thought about volleyball. Practices, games, scrimmages, workouts and tournaments were always on my mind. Being a part of a team and being on the court, quickly became my second home away from home. I am proud to represent my team as a teammate chosen captain. As captain, I am able to demonstrate my leadership abilities inspiring a cohesive and winning team.
It is amazing to me that while playing university volleyball at the highest level, you can also achieve an education at the highest level. I take my school work as seriously as I take my volleyball career. This is reflected by my 4.0 GPA in honours classes. I get great joy by writing a perfect paper, just as I do serving an ace.
One thing that I can promise is that whatever program accepts me, I will always give all my effort, both on the court and in the classroom.
