Maddie Smith '24 Recruiting Profile

Hi, my name is Maddie Smith and I’m from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Thank you for taking the time to view my profile! 

I love the game of volleyball. Before I started playing in Junior High, I was a dancer for 10 years with the School of Alberta Ballet. Dance gave me a tremendous foundation of skills and that have transferred to my game, including athleticism, work ethic and the ability to hold myself to a very high standard. 

What I enjoy most from the game is operating within a team dynamic, and building on the level of passion that players put out onto the court. I started out as a setter for my high school team but changed positions to middle later in the club season because I felt it was a better fit, and have been developing my skills further since then. Volleyball has given me the opportunity to build my character and confidence and I’m excited to transfer that into my future endeavors, both academically and from a career perspective.

My goal for the future is to keep volleyball in my life, especially if it came hand in hand with my college or university experience. I am interested in areas related to arts, as well as writing and communications.
