Personal Statement

I am Greta, a student athlete from Latvia (in Europe) that has just returned from New Zealand where I lived for a while. I got invited to play volleyball for a high school's volleyball team in Nelson, New Zealand 2 years ago due to my academic and athletic abilities and achievements. I managed to finish high school there with excellent grades and awards. This amazing overseas experience has made me want to pursue my further education in a country that is not my own as I seek to gain international experience that would open my horizons and relate to my preferred field of interest - International Relations. The USA seems perfect as I could combine volleyball with my studies which is not really possible in Europe.


My main volleyball achievements:

New Zealand Secondary Schools Beach Volleyball Senior Champion 2019 (Nayland College)

MVP of girls U17 in Aloha Summer Classic Volleyball Tournament 2019;

MVP of the season, 2018 (Nayland College)

MVP (one of 4) in Latvia National U17 Volleyball championship 2017, team in 3rd place in Latvia;

Team Captain of my Latvian club team (MVS) (2015, 2016, 2017).
