I have played volleyball since I was 4 years old and it has become one of the things that I love the most. When I am at the court, I feel like if I was at home. I enjoy my job as a setter, since it gives me the responsibility to lead the team. I pay special attention to practice time, since it is there where a player learns new skills to develop better techniques. Practice leads to perfection. As a setter I take pride when the team performs like a Swiss watch, demonstrating quality of play, execution and precision.
Volleyball is my way of life. It is my way to calm down after a hard day at school and to escape the stress of life. It has certainly helped me grow and mature as an individual. It is where I can be loud and aggressive. Volleyball can be very stressful, but it is the kind of stress that I am happy and willing to face. It motivates me to keep on trying so I can get better and better every day. I have learned that as a player, you do not get better or learn everything overnight; that you need to try to get better and love the sport. You need to devote most of your time, energy and also to be able to sacrifice in order to reach your goals.
I have been able to maintain a 3.8 GPA at school despite the fact that I have devoted a lot of time practicing volleyball and playing for my school and for the club teams. My goal is to play college volleyball and to work towards obtaining a college degree, maybe in the field of Science.
