Ella Lawry '19 Recruiting Profile

College is an exciting opportunity for me to grow both academically and personally. Business and psychology are the courses I am aiming to pursue and complete as a double major. Volleyball in the US has been a goal of mine since taking up the sport at the age of 12.

In 2015 I was selected to play on New Zealand’s North Island Representative team U17 and we won gold at the Australian State Champs. This year I was Outside Hitter on the U18 team for an Inter-Island Challenge where we again won gold. I have also made New Zealand’s National Squad. I have been selected to train and then trial again this coming year for 2019 Asian Champs.

I have played on the U17 New Zealand Beach Volleyball squad and we travelled to Vanuatu for a tournament – I was selected as one of the top two players to face the U20 Vanuatu team.

I am focussed and steady on court with an explosive arm, a very strong jump serve and solid defense. I am positive and thrive off of a team atmosphere. I respect my team, my coaches and my family for enabling me to play the sport I am passionate about and would be proud to be a college representative.
