Personal Statement
I started playing volleyball in 4th grade and right when I started, it was like a light bulb turning on in my head. In my sophomore year of high school, I made both my Junior Varsity and Varsity teams and had to step into a hitter role for JV, I kept my head held high and started to play on varsity more and more throughout the season. No matter if my team wins or loses, I always know I can have some room for improvement. I am always willing to learn more.
Growing up I always wanted to look like the older girls did while playing volleyball, so I started doing something every day to get better, whether it was practice, private lessons, workouts, or playing volleyball with my younger sister. I have always been told by coaches that my attitude is great, I am very coachable, and I always find a way to brighten up the team. Getting along with my teammates has always been important to me because I realized throughout the years that the closer a team is to sisters, the better the team is. Being a libero comes with a lot of responsibility and leadership on the court, I made sure I am always talking whether it is to call seams, call "mine" or tell the hitters what is open.
Getting good grades in my classes has always been a big part of my life, and I know that I will always be that way until I am out of school. I have always dreamed of being a criminal psychologist, or just a psychologist and I will do any amount of schooling to pursue this dream of mine. I want to pursue being a psychologist because I love helping others and I will do whatever it takes to make people around me happy. Mental health is a very serious thing in my eyes and I believe that being a Psychologist can help so many young athletes or adults feel like they are not alone. I am looking for a psychology program to help me get where I want to be when I am older.
