I have been playing sports for as long as I can remember. My family is full of teachers, athletes, and coaches so my love for sports came naturally. I began as a swimmer around age 7 and I sill swim for my high school and summer swim league. In my time as a swimmer, I also spent some time playing soccer, basketball, and eventually I found volleyball. I have always been tall so I was often told I should play basketball, but then someone mentioned I should try volleyball. It was different than what I had been told my whole life, so I decided to give it a try. I enjoy playing all these sports, but volleyball brings me a special kind of joy. I began playing volleyball about six years ago and still enjoy it just as much as I did my first year, if not more. I have learned a lot about who I am as a person since I started. Volleyball taught me that I am relentless; I am committed to completing tasks and accomplishing goals no matter what it takes. It also taught me that I am a strong leader; I always make sure I’m doing what is best for my team and I make sure I hold my teammates accountable in order to achieve our goal. Volleyball has become a lifestyle for me, and I hope that I can continue playing in college.
