Hi, my name is Rachel Fagin! As I grew up, I was always involved in sports. I swam for my neighborhood swim team starting from when I was 5 to when I was 11, and during my 2018 season, I won relays and divisionals in breaststroke and was awarded the “Kick Like You Care” team award. I played basketball between 2nd and 8th grade, and I helped my middle-school team win the conference championship two seasons in a row. In my last basketball season, I found a sport that truly resonated with me, volleyball. In 8th grade I made my first club team, MEVC 14-1 Pride, only a few months after I started the sport. During my freshman high-school season, I was an all around starter playing as a pin hitter and middle-back, and I made 2nd team all-conference. For the 2022 to 2023 season, I decided to play for MoCo 15-1 Menace after making the team as an opposite hitter, but was quickly moved to the back row because of my defensive skills, and had so much fun making the switch! Currently, I am with my same coach as last year, Amy Fester, but on a brand new team, Academy 16 Travel, as the starting libero.
Ever since I began playing volleyball, I have always been extremely dedicated to development. I am a person who sets my mind to something and will always work my hardest to achieve my goals. I made my first serve, overhand, within the first 5 days I played, and I immediately took on playing back row when my coach needed me to.
Academically, I have always been a strong student. Because of my commitment to success, I have sustained a high GPA and have been placed on the 2023 Dean's List. I have also played the cello since 4th grade, and I have aspired to become an architect for years. Additionally, at the beginning of freshman year, I earned the Global Seal of Biliteracy in Hebrew. I would love to compete in competitive volleyball in college, but what will always come first for me is going to a school that will provide me with a great education and an established Jewish community! In hard times, I feel connected to my people and I hope to carry both that connection and a bigger impact to (hopefully) a Hillel program that will allow me to embrace who I am outside of volleyball. Thank you for visiting my page!
