My aspirations for college aren't only athletic, but academic as well. I hope to one day be an orthopedic surgeon. I am interested in medicine because my father is a sports med doctor at a Big Ten university. I aspire to extend my athletic career into college through volleyball. One thing that most people don't know about me is that my pets are a big part of my life. I have a cat at my mom's house, a dog at my dad's, and my miniature horse lives at my grandmother's farm. Gunther is a smaller American Miniature Horse, standing at only 19 inches tall. I am currently working on training him to pull a cart. I've already taught him to jump and go through an obstacle course. One of my most enjoyed volunteer activities is taking Gunther to schools, nursing homes, and parades. I love seeing people's reactions towards a much smaller version of an animal that can be somewhat frightening. I enjoy volleyball because it allows me to be a leader on the court and develop my strengths as a teammate. It allows me to push through adversity for the betterment of the team. Sharing the sense of accomplishment with my team is just as, if not more important than my independent accomplishments.
