Hello! My name is Kristina and I'm from Macomb, Michigan. I have a unique story about my childhood and volleyball experience. My family and I moved to Hermosillo, Mexico when I was 8 years old in order to be closer to my dad who was there working as a plant manager. I grew up in a completely different culture with different rules and norms, and because of this, I truly appreciate the differences in culture. My volleyball training began in Mexico and included, two different high school teams, as well as specialized training with the university students from the Universidad de Sonora. I believe that living in Mexico has shaped me into the person I am today, in academics, athletics, and social ethics.
I have been playing volleyball for 4 years, 3 of which were in Mexico which, while not as competitive as sports in the United States, provided a completely different experience which allowed me to learn a lot and forced me to continuously work hard. I consider myself to be a very analytical person on the court and I am always striving to do my best and fix any errors. I am an extremely competitive person and I believe that team success cannot happen without great team communication.
I have always considered academics as the most important thing to focus on. In Mexico I was on the Honor Roll and am currently invited to be on the National Honor Society at Dakota High School in Macomb, Michigan. I have maintained a 3.8 GPA while playing high school volleyball, club volleyball, and having a part time job. My academic goal is to graduate with a 3.9.
