2024 HighlightsHi! I’m Isabel Lewis, I go to Whitmore Lake High School in Michigan. As the eighth child out of nine I learned quickly that I had to use my voice and listen to others’. This led to me discovering volleyball at the end of my 5th grade year and I instantly fell in love with the sport. Ever since I started playing I’ve hoped to play at the collegiate level. My first season was in 6th grade and each year I feel like I enjoy it more than the last. It was through those early volleyball seasons I discovered my love of teaching, especially teaching math. I really do enjoy learning and helping others learn math, so I hope that I can be a math teacher after I graduate college. My love of math has even helped me improve in volleyball! By figuring out the angle and power of an attack I can figure out where I need to be in order to receive it well (or where I have to hit in order for the other team to be unable to receive it). I am always open to criticism and feedback because all I want to do is improve myself (whether it’s for the good of my team or a classmate). Being able to listen and talk with my teachers, coaches, and peers has shown and taught me so many new skills that I hope to be able to expand my learning on and help expand other people’s learning on.
