My name is Morgan Marxer, and I started playing volleyball at age 11. I play both right side hitter and middle hitter/blocker, I have also played played outside hitter in my earlier years of volleyball. As a competitive student athlete, I spend the majority of my focus on my leadership on the court and off the court at Orono High School and at Club 43, while still primarily focusing on my school work. I am a well rounded athlete who consistently shows a positive attitude on the court, my teammates on all of my past and previous teams have considered me as the most prominent leader on those teams, in club volleyball and high school volleyball. My Freshman year, 2013, I was one of three Freshman girls to be placed on the Junior Varsity team, withholding the position of the starting middle hitter. I was also the starting middle on the Junior Varsity team my Sophomore year, and got pulled up to play middle hitter/right side hitter with the Varsity team for section playoffs in 2014, a year where two of OHS's middle hitters were volleyball scholarships to UND and Gustavus Adolphus College. This past Junior season, 2015, I was the starting Varsity middle hitter for the entirety of the season where we finished in the top third of our class, AAA, as a small public school competing against immensely large high schools with strong volleyball programs. My team competed against two of the strongest state ranked competitors -- Edina High School and Hopkins High School -- whom we have lost to in the previous years, and beat both of them in the beginning of the season. The 2016 JO Club Season I have moved to right side hitter for our Club 43 171's National Team as I continue to work on my skills, leadership and teamwork to achieve my goal of playing college volleyball.
For my past Club 43 carrier, I have been consecutively placed on the 1's teams since age 11 on the 12 1's. Although every year had been successful for my teams throughout my past seasons, the 15 1's team that I had the privilege to be a part of had placed third in the 2014 USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championships.
In 2015 I was nominated by my Club 43 director, Annie Glavan, for the AVCA Phenom List of America's top high school players to watch, and I was accepted into the program. I was given the opportunity to go to the D1 national championship and train with coaches.
My collegiate goals and aspirations are to continue my leadership roles and responsibilities as a student athlete to impact the people around me, for the better. I also would love to have the privilege to be included in any faith-based organizations given at the college of my choice and to also be included in any journalism/photojournalism courses available.
