Personal Statement
My name is Lainey Benson and I am going to be a Junior at Hastings Senior High School. I grew up surrounded by volleyball due to the love of the sport my family has. I have been playing on local teams since I was in 3rd grade, and my passion for volleyball has grown ever since. My mentality throughout the sport has definitely improved from gaining Varsity experience in high school, and I know that it will continue to grow stronger as my high school career progresses. My positivity from being put through certain situations has enabled me to be uplifting towards my teammates, and be counted on to bring energy to the court. Being immersed in the back row/defensive positions has consistently allowed me to better correct myself as well as take criticism as to how I can improve. I am very stubborn and tend to not give up until I have it right. In addition to volleyball, I am involved in track as a distance runner during the spring. Academics is one of the things that I value importantly on top of athletics, and I strive and am determined to work hard in order to maintain good grades which allows me to be diligent on the court as well.
