My name is Sophia Viena Ortquist and I am a 6'0" middle blocker out of Las Vegas, NV. This season of 2020-2021, is my 4th official season in a club environment. After a few years in cheerleading, my Mom introduced me to volleyball when I was 11, and from there on, I could not go back to pompoms. This is my sport, I enjoy it and very passionate about it.
I am a Junior at Nevada State High School and in this new school environment, college courses are offered to our advantage and I will continue to work hard the rest of the year to improve it. I have a strong work ethic in school and on the court. I strive to do my best as there is always room for improvement.
The past season was cut short but that did not prevent me from improving. I continued to work out and practiced during this pandemic for the club season. I have become stronger both physically and mentally. I understand that playing in college means the best performance and commitment, and I continue to make every effort to do that. I play for Vegas Precision Club 17U National and have had the opportunity to play for the finest coaches here in the valley. I believe they will tell you how hardworking I am and always looking for guidance. Learning new things, being coachable and staying consistent has helped me show my best on the court.
My family is my backbone as they continue to support me more than a 100%. I want to thank my parents for always making the time to take me to practice, workouts and games locally or out of state. I could not have done this on my own.
