Marissa Earl Personal Statement
My name is Marissa Earl and I am interested in continuing volleyball in college.
I currently play volleyball for McQueen High School in Reno, Nevada. I will be a senior at McQueen and will graduate in June of 2021. This is the third year I have played volleyball for McQueen, with great improvement every year. During the off-season, I play club ball at Northern Nevada Juniors (NNJ). I have played for NNJ for four years, and currently play on one of their travel teams.
I have not chosen a college major yet, but I am interested in nursing. I find helping people to be very rewarding, and nursing is a positive way to build onto this aspect of my life.
One thing that sets me aside is how hard I work. I put 120% into all aspects of my life. People look up to me whether it comes to every day life or volleyball.
I set high expectations for myself in school and in volleyball, and I work very hard to reach these goals. I find volleyball to be a sport which helps me to stay focused on school and get good grades. I have been taught that I am a student first and then an athlete second, which has helped me keep my grades up.
I look forward to college and playing volleyball in the future.
