My goal is to be challenged academically and athletically while receiving my undergraduate degree. I have been a dedicated student-athlete throughout high school, maintaining an above-perfect GPA and acquiring many accolades for my athletic capabilities. I give my all in any activity I participate in, whether it be high-level courses, sports, or extra-curriculars. Playing collegially would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity I would love to have.
Volleyball has been a part of my life since sixth grade, making this my seventh season. I was a starting JV setter my freshman year, without any previous training in this specialty. My sophomore year, I was a swing player, however, a starting setter for both JV and Varsity. The highlight of my 2020 season was winning the State Championship for the first time in Newfound Regional High School’s history. We would go on to do it again in 2021 with an undefeated season. During my junior year, now a full varsity player, I was also named captain by my coach. I was chosen for my leadership abilities, dedication, and supportive character. Being a high-achieving student, I received the Bears Booster Club Award both my sophomore and junior year for excellence in academics and athletics. Now in my last year of high school, I am still captain with my eyes set on the 1,000 assist record. If I were to receive this record, I would be the first in Newfound’s history.
Throughout my volleyball career, I have discovered I would rather be criticized than ignored. I desire to reach the next level in all aspects of my life. On the court or in the classroom, I have high expectations for myself. Academically speaking, I plan to pursue a career in medicine, specifically neuroscience. Throughout high school, my grades have been more than perfect and while realizing that may not be attainable in college, I will strive for academic excellence in all of my courses. However, possibly most importantly, volleyball and high school, in general, have taught me that enjoying what you take part in is as much of a priority as succeeding.
