2020 HighlightsMy name is Jaelyn Werley, I attend La Cueva High School, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I am a Senior and I will graduate in 2022. Since I was a young girl my dream was to go to college and become a doctor. I want to become a plastic surgeon, in order to help other people become more confident in themselves and help someone in case they get involved in an incident and need a cosmetic surgery to repair the damaged part of their body. I have strived to get the best grades that I can, as well as taking all the advanced classes that my school will allow me too. I have taken 3 AP classes and 2 Honors classes so far throughout my high school career and have taken honors classes in middle school. Since middle school I have maintained a GPA greater than a 3.5.
I love volleyball! I have been playing volleyball for 8 years, starting off at YMCA in Albuquerque and continued through school and club. As soon as I started to play in competitive volleyball, I wanted to be the leader on the court, so I started to train to become a setter! I have tried other sports but as soon as I played volleyball for the first time, I fell in love with it. This sport has been such an amazing journey in my life, helping me get faster, stronger, and continue to build a greater mental aspect of the game, but most importantly I have become a Leader. I enjoy playing club because of the higher competition that I face during tournaments.
Thus far for my high school career, I made the freshman team, was appointed team captain, and received the "Sparkplug" Award, which is for being the student athlete that produces the most energy, and no quit mentality. I also floated this year for the Junior Varsity team. My Sophomore year I was appointed team captain of Junior Varsity, I received the "Blue and Silver" Award, which is for the student athlete that best represents the school, volleyball program, and team. I made and lettered (Athletic Letter) for my Junior year, which was an abbreviated 5 match season and took 3rd place in New Mexico. I tried out and made the varsity squad for my senior year, which is currently in the middle of the season.
