My name is Pilot Martinez, I am class of 2025 at Lovington, New Mexico. My positions are OH and Setter. I have played volleyball for 5 years starting my 7th grade year. My incoming freshman year I had started off on varsity with a coach that never liked me no matter how much work I continued to put into the sport or how hard I worked everyday. After a couple of days I got moved down to our freshman team after failing to know how to correctly play a position I was never taught at that time, but continued to work as hard as I could for my schools volleyball program. My freshman and sophomore years I had many problems with that same coach causing me to almost quit multiple times. My junior year was a much better season for me and the rest of the players. I got the chance to learn a lot more about the sport and became better at my position, offense and defense, now that the coach had been fired. Growing up I had watched college volleyball almost every year dreaming that I would get the opportunity to play in college like those girls on tv. When I had got the chance to start playing my 7th grade year I had told myself that when I got to high school it would be my goal to become one of the best athletes, in hopes to be able to commit to my dream, and play at the college level at my dream school. The reason I am doing this program is to help me fulfill those dreams and goals to be able to play at a higher level in the sport I have loved since I was a kid. No matter all the challenges I have over come.
