My name is Rachel Barreto. I've played volleyball since junior high but joined my first team in my freshmen year of high school. I've always admired the sport and equally enjoyed playing it. I started off playing as an after-school activity to monitor my physical health and to just have something to do. However, in the past two years, my passion has truly taken off. I've been indecisive with my future for while in regards to a field of study, but I've always known that I wanted to play on such an advanced and high-level team. Once I started focusing more and more on volleyball, it has helped me understand certain aspects of my life in regards to academics and sports. In college, I plan to study physical therapy and psychology. My future goals are to work in a school as a school counselor and/or coach. I love working with people, whether it be volunteering or helping my aunt at her cafe, and being a school counselor or coach will allow me to take this love and help teenagers develop themselves in a very stressful time. My personal school counselor has been such an inspiration to me and has helped me immensely and that has helped me determine my goals for my future. This makes me a good candidate for your team because I will devote myself entirely to my academics and volleyball. I believe I am different from other recruits because I plan on playing this sport and educating others on it for as long as humanly possible. This is my dream, and I am determined to put the best version of myself forward and become a member of your team.
Thank you for taking the time to read my personal statement,
Rachel
