Eva Katz '23 Recruiting Profile

I am a rising junior at Nanuet Senior High School in Rockland County, New York. I have been playing volleyball since I was little. My drive and ability set me apart very early on in my first formal volleyball season.  My goal has been to play on a collegiate level since I began my volleyball journey on my first modified team in seventh grade.  All of my coaches have always shared with me that I am very "coach-able" player. This was a true compliment and I internalized this with my play, training, and leadership qualities.  Volleyball is my passion, and I believe with my strong academics, interpersonal skills, and drive, I can be a positive addition to any volleyball team. Although my primary position is setter, I have had experience with many other positions, such as libero, defensive specialist, and right side. Playing all of these different positions has helped me become a better setter because I can anticipate what type of plays should be ran both defensively and offensively. I am always open to trying new things and being moved around as it helps me to become an overall stronger player. My positive energy and communication skills have helped me lead my teams as the captain. My sophomore year I was nominated for my county's overall player of the week. I was the only sophomore to be nominated and this made me stand out to other players, coaches, and teams. I was the recipient of the All-League Award for Section One Athletics and have been chosen for the Student Athlete award since my freshman year. My Junior year season I was nominated "Most-Valuable Player" and also received my second All-League Award for Section One Athletics.  Being able to change pace, play with different teammates, and adapt to different coaching environments has helped me to become a versatile player and leader on the court. Throughout my Club seasons, I have attended tournaments such as; Charm City, Boston MA (Gold Runner Up), Boston Volleyball Festival (Silver Bracket Champions), Fun At The Sun, Mohegan Sun CT (Gold Bracket), Capitol Hill Volleyball Classic (Silver Bracket Champions), East Coast Championship, Philadelphia PA, and many more. Throughout all of these tournaments I have had to play through some very challenging games, but with my confidence and trust in my teammates, we were able to pull off some difficult wins and push through the loses, learning from each opportunity.  Off the court I am a high honor roll student and like to be challenged academically.  This balance I have achieved between playing varsity level, club seasons, tournament travel, work, and maintaining my grades make me an overall great addition to any collegiate level team!
