I don’t remember a time when I wasn’t playing volleyball. Sure I’ve tried other sports; track, soccer, I even have a black belt in taekwondo, but volleyball has always been my passion. At nine years old I was playing on my first club team and I have never looked back. I love the excitement and competitiveness of the game of volleyball. I work hard to improve my individual skills every day, but I also work hard to keep great relationships with my teammates. I’ve learned that you can have strong individual skills, but you’re only as successful as the girls around you. You need to work to improve as a team, and if you’re 100% committed to that, your own game will also improve. Knowing your role is important as well. If you’re a starter, or put in just for a certain play, you need to do what it takes to help the team. Serving when it’s match point or diving on the floor to dig that ball that seems impossible to get, is what I live for. I also take a lot of pride in cheering on my teammates. My coaches would say that you know when I’m in the gym. Having energy and showing enthusiasm is who I am. Playing volleyball at the collegiate level has always been a dream of mine and I’m looking forward to finding the college who needs a setter like me.
