Personal Statement
My name is McKenzie Heil. I have been playing volleyball since I was in sixth grade and since the moment I started playing, I knew it was the sport for me. My sister started playing and after seeing her play it sparked something in me. I started on a CYO team and a year later played on my seventh and eighth grade middle school team. From there I have played for CVC, Southwest, and on JV my freshman and sophmore year and now Varsity my junior year. In between my sophmore and junior year I actually transferred schools to be closer to family and this completely changed how I had ever played before. I was very nervous to transfer schools my junior year and did not know what to expect. I learned the importance of being coachable and flexible in some tough situations. From getting moved from just playing middle, to playing middle and right side, and then back to just middle by the end of the season, I learned to be trusting in my coach and always keep an open mind. The coach I have at my new school has taught me so much in just the past few months and this has showed me that I have the talent and skill to really take volleyball further to the college level. My confidence has really been boosted since being at this new school and this will only help me in my further athletics and academics.
