Dezirae McCollins '28 Recruiting Profile

Hi, my name is Dezirae McCollins, but everybody calls me Dezi. I first fell in love with volleyball when I was ten years old. My mom signed me up for a volleyball youth organization in our community. Since then, me and the volleyball has been inseparable. I am currently one of three freshmen on the Junior Varsity team at my High School. I have played Club Volleyball for the past 5 years. The first two years, I made the regional team, and the last three years I've made the national team. I feel I am a great recruit because I am always wanting and trying to perfect my skill, no matter if it's on or off-season. My ultimate goal is the become a "joker" type of player.  Meaning learning all of the positions to the best of my ability to always be an asset to my team. My current position is Middle Hitter. I am currently training for outside and right hitter to add to my skill set.

Education is very important within my family. My grandmother, who I am very close with, is a principal at an elementary school and my mom just graduated with her Master's Degree in Mental Health Clinical Counseling. So having good grades is always a must :) I have received Honor roll every year throughout my academic career, so far. So finding a college that aligns with my academic goals is also important to me.
