Personal Statement
Jessica Fahey, Ottawa Fusion Volleyball Club, Outside Hitter/Libero, number 11. This describes my life in Ottawa, Canada. I am 5'7 and I have been playing club volleyball for two years, however, I have been playing as a starter for my school team since grade six. For the past two years, I have been named captain the John McCrae Secondary School, and I have displayed exceptional leadership skills.
Before I started my club volleyball career, I played for the Nepean Ringette Association as a goalie (last level played - Junior AA). My team won gold at the Ontario Ringette Championships (equivalent to State Championships), and proceeded to represent the province as Team Ontario at the Eastern Canadian Ringette Championships.
At John McCrae Secondary School, I am part of the High Performance Athlete program. I currently have an 87% average and all of the courses that I am taking are Honors courses.
I am determined to play varsity women's volleyball at a school that offers a Kinesiology program, which can then be followed by a Physiotherapy program. My objective is a quality education that is recognized in both Canada and the United States, while at the same time playing the sport I love, volleyball. I want to develop as a player and be able to contribute to the success of a varsity team.
Why am I different? I am different because of my wide range of athletic ability, of which include: stamina, agility (from being a goalie), flexibility and my overall knowledge of the game as it allows for adaptability and versatility. Also I am very determined, focused, conscientious, self confident, mentally tough and coachable. Also, I believe that it is equally important to posses leadership skills and mental toughness to fight through the losses and learn from mistakes and bring a team back up during game setbacks.
