Alexandra Locati '19 Recruiting Profile

I'm a 5'9" outside hitter from Coos Bay, Oregon. I've been a varsity starter for Marshfield High School for 3 years now. Freshman year I was a middle blocker with our two best hitters/outsides. After they graduate, they moved me to the outside because I was their next best hitter. Freshman and sophomore year I earned honorable mention all-league. This last season I earned 1st team all league and best offense and co-mvp of my team. I’ve been playing club volleyball since 6the grade. I am a starter on my high school basketball team, and have been since freshman year and I’ve been playing club basketball since 4th grade.

For the past year I’ve been going to Northwest Fitness, a sports performance conditioning and training facility, at least twice a week. I am currently playing for their club volleyball team, MHS basketball and working part time when my schedule permits, so I have become pretty good at managing my time. I currently have a 3.6 GPA and am a member of National Honor Society.

I'd like to go to a school where I can get a degree in elementary education. Balancing time on the court and in my studies would be important to me. I am open to going anywhere for school I just hope to find a college that fits me. Size and location don't matter as long as I can get an education while continuing to play volleyball. I'm a team player that works hard and I believe in earning a place on the team, wherever that may be.

Throughout my years playing sports, I've learned the value of having different perspectives. I've only had really three different volleyball coaches in my life and they all have the same style. For basketball, I've had at least 7 or 8. Two years ago we got a new assistant for basketball and he has a totally different way of doing things than our head coach. But, we've gone to the state tournament every year since he's been here getting 5th and 1st. So I believe change and a different view can be an important factor to improving as a player. 

A goal of mine is to keep playing the sport I love after high school at a competitive level and make new friends.
