I chose to play volleyball when I was in 7th grade. Immediately after playing I fell in love with it. Everything about it drew me in, the competitiveness, the energy and even the training. My progression in this sport is all because of my nonstop training and devotion. I have sacrificed a lot to play this sport and I wouldn’t have it any other way because it is what I love to do. The skills I have learned from volleyball that I can use in the real world are incredible. I have learned discipline, mental toughness, and the ability to overcome obstacles that I may not have been able to overcome without the experience I have had.
As a player my goal is to continuously push hard to pursue my goal of playing at the collegiate level. Although I am a middle hitter, I am open to learn new positions and I am positive I will persevere wherever I am placed.
As a full time player and student I realize how important it is to manage academics. Therefore, I am very focused on doing whatever it takes to keep my grades up and prepare myself for what is to come in college. My long term goals for college are to major in exercise science. Although school and volleyball take up most of my time I still have to remain social. Therefore, I am in multiple clubs in school and volunteer wherever I can.
On the court I believe that excitement and enthusiasm leads a team. I have found that without it a team has no motivation to push themselves. This has led me to go out on the court and be pumped and give 120% no matter what the score is. I believe that that mentality will drive a team to victory.
