I have loved playing and watching sports since I was a little girl. Competitive gymnastics, field hockey, basketball, and lacrosse will always have a place in my heart, but not as much as volleyball. Not having a middle school volleyball team, I was limited on my exposure to the game and did not start playing until my freshman year of high school. Being a quick learning and having a deep appreciation for the game has helped my skills grow immensely and my desire to continue playing volleyball past my senior year of high school into college.
I work hard for the team so the team can succeed. Being a team player is important to me because you are on the court with 5 other girls along with those supporting on the bench. A win takes a team effort, and I always make sure I am putting 100% of my effort in at all times. I ask for constructive criticism from coaches and my parents to make me a better player. I always ask for assistance from those who can see and remember my mistakes better than I can. I quickly adjust to my playing, as well. A coach only needs to tell me to fix something once in order for me to get it done. My competitive nature allows me to find my grit when my team is losing or winning. I am able to dig deep and put more effort into helping my team when we are losing and not let up when my team is winning so we can finish the game.
My game play strengths would be blocking and my court awareness. I am able to quickly see what defense the other team is running, where there are open spots on the court for easy points, and what defenders to aim for during serve receive.
