Olivia MacDonald '22 Recruiting Profile

As an athlete I'm a natural leader. A quote from a person in my life, which impacts how I view leadership is "A leader is not just someone who steps forward first, but someone who sees each individual and helps the whole step forward together". I can confidently say that I positively impact my teams in more ways than one. I read the ball very well, and my mobility on the court along with consistency allows teams that I am on to succeed. I am someone who is very coachable along with quick and eager to learn. I understand and am grateful every time that I step on the court, each opportunity to play, and work to make sure that I can continue my volleyball career at the highest level possible.  

The love I have for volleyball is like no other. When I first got introduced to it the summer entering my sophomore year it became all I want to do. I have always played sports growing up, and at very competitive levels, but what I found out about myself after playing volleyball, was that for the first time I truly loved the sport I was playing and couldn't imagine my life without it.  Any opportunity that presented itself I took, from club or beach volleyball to grass tournaments and adult leagues. 

Inside and outside of the classroom I push myself with exploring new topics to further educate myself and fuel my love for learning. My GPA shows that I am very dedicated to my studies and take them seriously. Over the course of high school I have come to understand what works for me academically, along with the best ways my brain learns and processes things.  

My goals with furthering my education is to graduate with a degree in Environmental Studies, and look to purse minors in Sustainability, Psychology and Sociology. I am truly excited for this next chapter of my life to pursue both my academic passions and my passion for volleyball. I am open to any opportunity that comes my way and look forward to continuing my volleyball career.
