Personal Statement

Personal Statement:

My family has always been active. My sibling and I grew up playing a variety of sports, including swimming and CrossFit, which helped us develop strength and fitness from a young age. Our parents, both educators, coached and supported our athletic pursuits—especially volleyball. I often tagged along to games and practices, and eventually got the chance to play myself. I found success in both school and club volleyball, and my passion only grew from there. After attending high-level camps, I began hearing that I had the potential to play beyond high school. That encouragement motivated me to keep pushing myself.

I’m grateful to the coaches who have recognized me as a student of the game. I often watch high-level matches and analyze elite players. In practice, I work hard to model my play after those I admire and consistently put in extra effort to improve. I usually rank near the top in strength and fitness testing. Competing in both volleyball and track has strengthened my mental game and competitive mindset. I also stay focused on my academics and lead a healthy lifestyle, knowing both will support my future goals.

Coaches describe me as a versatile and determined player who can contribute in multiple positions. I began as a setter who could also hit from the right side, transitioned to left side in high school, and have played as a defensive specialist on my club team. I’m adaptable and proud to support my team in whatever role is needed.

Volleyball has also connected me to an incredible network of friends and competitors across the province and beyond. These relationships have become a meaningful part of my journey. Volleyball is more than just a sport to me—it has shaped my character, built my confidence, and deepened my sense of community. This confidence has also led to my exceeding in another sport- track and field, where I have been approach by post-secondary coaches. I’m excited to continue growing as a player and to see where my volleyball and activities take me next.

These athletes have most likely attended a provincial team selection camp or have provincial team potential. These athletes range from ages 16-18 and are in the consolidation phase for skill development. Earlier when I was at the Volleyball Canada Regional Excellence Program, I was approached to play with Stealth. It is a premier club. I look forward to developing my skils and playing in the high-tiered competitions across Canada (Calgary) and USA (Phoenix).

  • Attended Medicine Hat College Rattlers Camp upon invitation from coach. I was humbled to be practice with 24 athletes including returning players for the college team. I performed very well. Training

  • Cross Fit Athlete
  • 6 years
  • I was a youth CrossFit athlete for six years. I started as a youth just to be active and add to my conditioning in soccer and swimming. I was given a special exemption to train among adults given my attention to technique and overall strength development. My attention has turned to volleyball, not CrossFit, but I continue to go to the gym 3-4 times every week.
  • PFIT
  • 2 years
  • PFIT is a program in our high school where one can achieve credits toward graduation for enrolling in physical fitness programs. While this is a Grade 11 & Grade 12 program, I was allowed to enroll in Grade 10 & Grade 11. I have excelled. My Grade 10 mark was 99%. I had met all the requirements in the course by the end of the first semester, but I continued to participate the entire year. I am now in my second year. I feel the training adds to my physical and mental wellness. I am currently sitting at 100% mark. This dedication allowed me to come into my premiere club volleyball program as top fitness athlete.
