Well, hello! My name is Chloe Marenic, and I am so happy you’re taking a moment to learn a little more about me and my relationship to volleyball. Here’s my bio version of fast fours:
1. My father, who played volleyball while growing up in Canada, was my first coach. He is always a great listener when I’m working through something or learning something new. His passion for the sport has bled through to my whole family, and their support has been valuable through the highs and the lows.
2. I have played club ball as a setter for Texas Advantage Volleyball since my 12s year. I’m proud to play in one of the toughest regions in the country - iron sharpens iron! I believe that individual training on one’s skill is so important, and doing so consistently has gained me a lot of respect at my club over the years. I’m lucky to have always worked with like-minded teammates who also want those extra touches and time with coaches. We all want to be an asset to the team! My coaches have described me as dedicated, highly coachable, competitive, and possessing great court awareness. I believe in good energy, both on and off the court, and I strive to build positive connections with my teammates and my coaches each season.
3. I was named MVP for my high school team last year! I have also been honored with the role of Team Captain every year that I have played school ball. I was placed on a Principal’s Leadership Council for my high school this year, and I also have over 20 hrs of leadership training through my affiliation with National Charity League.
4. My club team has been to Nationals for the past four years. Though we haven’t acquired any hardware from the experience, I have walked away each year with pride in our performance, gratitude for the opportunity and experience, and excitement for the next season and the chance to do it AGAIN! Which brings me to….
I’m really excited to be a college student, and I’m eager to take classes about subjects that interest me and build towards the future. It’s my goal to remain an athlete while also working hard as a student. I’m not done playing volleyball and being part of a team! I recently heard a college coach comment on her own past experience going from being a high school player to a college player, and she said, “I wasn’t half the athlete in high school that I ended up being as a collegiate athlete”, and that was saying a lot, considering she was already a very accomplished player throughout high school! That comment has stuck with me, and I want the opportunity to reach my fullest potential too!
