Throughout elementary school, I received numerous accolades, which encouraged me to excel. I was even featured on the school’s advertisement as the standout student. However, in seventh grade, after winning a JV volleyball championship, a family situation forced me to leave the school I had attended for over 10 years. This was a devastating experience, leaving me out of school for several days and uncertain about the future. During this time, I realized how much I valued education and how the challenge of transferring schools sparked my resilience.
Attending different schools with varying cultures and expectations helped me develop a unique appreciation for learning. Throughout my journey, I've faced stereotypes within my family, with many believing I would fail due to a history of relatives dropping out of high school. I am determined to prove them wrong. This May, I will achieve my goal of graduating, thanks to my perseverance.
The diverse knowledge I’ve gained from a range of teachers and administrators has shaped my desire to succeed. I am committed to breaking the cycle of stereotypes in my family and paving the way for future generations to pursue education and success.
