I have always been involved in sports, even at a young age. I started playing volleyball at 8-years-old, when one of our family friend’s invited me to be on his daughter’s team. After several years of playing softball, basketball and volleyball I knew volleyball was my passion and found a club team.
Because North Texas has a larger number of nationally top-ranked teams, I have chosen club teams based on coaches and development available. I saw the opportunity to play for Eduardo Galarza at Dallas Arsenal Volleyball for 16s last year and jumped at the chance. I was honored to play up at the 2019 GJNC with the Arsenal 17 Gold team. Though I did not have a lot of court time during the tourney, I learned a lot from Skip Freeman, Lunden Azuara and the players. I accepted the offer to stay with Coach Eduardo and joined Arsenal 17 Gold for the 2020 season.
For school ball, I played JV at Wakeland High School in 9th grade and varsity at Memorial High School in 10th and 11th grade, after our school district was rezoned. Due to the rezoning, next year will be our first year with a full senior class. It has been a challenge to work with a smaller pool of players but the level of play in North Texas region 2, district 9-5A is excellent.
I am very proud of my accomplishments on and off the volleyball court. I have a 3.8 GPA and take Pre-AP and AP level classes. For 2018, I was All-District 2nd team and All-District Academic selection. For 2019, I was All-District 1st team and All-District Academic selection. I am currently interested in majoring in environmental science or psychology.
As a team leader for my high school and club teams, I have learned to put my team first, communicate and to listen. My coaches appreciate my leadership skills and hard work ethic. My dream is to play volleyball at a university that will challenge me both on and off the court.
