Rachel Rasband '24 Recruiting Profile

I love volleyball! It is my passion and I would love the opportunity to play at the collegiate level. I'm also a good student and I want to attend college to get a degree in a field I am interested in so I can have a career I love in the future as well. I am early in my high school career so I'm not entirely sure what I intend to pursue for a major in college  (I have plans to try several different areas of study while in high school so I can narrow it down). But I know that I definitely want volleyball to be a part of my life in college!

I am currently being trained as a setter for my club and school teams, but I've had the opportunity to play several different positions including middle blocker (with setting at the same time), right side hitting and blocking, outside hitting, and all round player including defensive rolls. I am quick on my feet and my coaches count on me to get under the ball. I have been told that I am very coachable and I strive to always work my hardest whether I'm training or playing a game. I'm easy going off the court and very competitive on the court. I take on leadership positioning on the team to help other players when they aren't quite in the right position, encouraging others along the way, serving as team captain to speak with refs as needed, etc.  My 2019 club team had a successful run at the AAU volleyball national competition and in 2020 I was on a higher team that was expected to qualify for USA Junior volleyball nationals. My skills have continued to improve steadily along the way, allowing me to move up onto higher ranked teams each year. And I continue to work hard to improve my skills with private lessons and taking advantage of all team practices, clinics offered, etc.

Academically, I'm in 10th grade and I'm doing well with my high school level courses.  I'm on track to be eligible for admission to academically demanding schools, as well as qualifying for academic scholarships as well. I'm looking for a great mix of academics and athletics as I head toward college!
