I have always been an extremely goal-oriented person since I was very young, and when I started playing volleyball I knew ultimately my goal would be to earn a college scholarship. Through the years, this goal has seemed to be harder than what I envisioned from six years ago. The summer of my sophomore year, I tore my ACL and meniscus. I endured surgery which restricted me from playing the sport I love for an entire year. The recovery and rehab process is nothing I imagined. I thought coming back would be no big deal. But during this process, I noticed changes physically and mentally, negative and positive. My positive attitude, self determination, and strong faith was put to the test. I never realized how determined I could be until this injury. When I was cleared by the physical therapist, I had 4 months before season tryouts to get back to the skill level I once was at a year ago. My first instinct was to buckle down, think clearly, and write down my goals. I wanted to clearly define my expectation for myself. In that short amount of time, I was able to accomplish my ladder goals and my ultimate goal, which was earning a starting spot on the court for the 2019 season. Throughout this entire process, I never doubted my ability and the goals I set. It was tested but never out of hands reach because I understood these goals were there to challenge me. I live my life based on the motto, "You can't control everything in life but you can always control your attitude and effort. I believe talent wins games , but teamwork and intelligence wins championships (Michael Jordan). I want to win championships with a GREAT team.
