Hello coaches!
I am Nora McCarthy, and I am a proud, born and raised Houstonian! I have been on the volleyball court for seven years and plan to continue playing the sport that I love. Thank you for taking the time to read and view my profile today.
Though I am fully dedicated to volleyball now, I have played basketball, belonged to the junior high and high school track team, as well as swam competitively for 12 years. I am 5’ 8.5” tall and I weigh 160 pounds. I have played middle in the past, but I am currently focused on playing right and outside.
I come from a large family where each of my three sisters all lettered in their sport. I grew up watching and learning that it takes hard work and dedication to be successful. I play on my high school JV team, play club volleyball, attend private lessons two times a week, and go to college camps and club camps in order to stay in shape and continue to learn and tweak my volleyball skills and court knowledge.
I was given the “Best Offensive Player“ and the “MVP“ Award for my freshman season. These awards were voted on by my teammates. I was also awarded the “Character Counts Award“ for both my freshman and JV seasons. I am most proud of the Character Awards because those were voted on by my coaches.
I am a team player. I understand that in order to succeed and win, I need to be at my best and I need to do my part to make sure my teammates are at their best.
My dream is to play volleyball in college I want to attend a university that will help me thrive in my sport while also giving me the support system I need to be successful academically. I am excited to experience all the facets of being a student-athlete on the college level. Big or small, I want to be where I am an asset to my team and where I can complete my college education.
