Kayla Sampson '12 Recruiting Profile

I don't no where to start. There is so much about me as a person in itself and then there is the athlete inside of me. To start off, my name is Kayla Nicole Sampson. My nickname is Keylah. I was born May 8, 1994( Mother's Day) in Birmingham Alabama. I am the first born out of four children. My favorites are: chicken alfredo, the color purple, listening to Coldplay, playing the cello and of course volleyball. I've played the cello for 5 years now and going on six. I also learned how to play volleyball right around the same time. I made the B Team 3rd string at riverwood Middle School and played club at Woodlands Stars on 14 Select. I tried out again my eigth grade year and moved up to the A Team 1st string. I attend Kingwood High School in Kingwood, Texas( a suburb off of Houston).I'm in all Honors/ AP classes, currently in the National Honor Society, and in the Kingwood Orchestra. I played volleyball my freshmen year, sophmore year, junior year, and hoping to play my senior year. Although I played my junior year on JV, I led my team to be 30 and 3 overall this season. As a starter, I helped play an important role of my team. My role was pushing my team to excel along with encouraging my team to be great when needed. I brought excitement and played with pride for the sport and my school. I guess my biggest aspect about playing volleyball, is to come on the court and bring energy by scoring points when needed or placing a hard serve in the court. My biggest talent in volleyball is serving short, about 5- 10 foot line. I love serving short. I hardly miss serves although my passing is about a 1.9. My sophmore year was the first time I had ever played outside. Before that, I played libero/ DS. I have a killer vertical that I myself do not realize, but I always here complements about it. I think my success in my volleyball career comes from my parents and from the coaches that I have had. And always, the effort and hardwork. I am proud of how far I have gotten in my volleyball career. I look forward to playing in college, but my focus is my education. Volleyball does not last forever. I plan on being a nueropsycologist. I would like to go to major schools like Duke and Georgetown for my education, but I am open up to anyone. Like I said, My main focus in collegge is my education.
