My name is Holly Baergen and I’m a 2027 outside hitter. I've played volleyball since the age of two with my older sisters, and formally started playing in 7th grade. I began playing club volleyball my 8th grade year. I was an all around starter on the varsity team my freshman year of high school and I won the district Newcomer of the Year award. Going into my sophomore season, I was chosen unanimously as captain and was having a great season. Unfortunately on September 17, 2024 while warming up, I completely tore my ACL. This led to me figuring out a new way to lead my team in more ways than just my skills on the court. Learning to lead by giving guidance and insight has not only improved who I am as a player, but most importantly as a leader. The lessons I’ve learned have been invaluable and will surely allow me to take my game to the next level. This injury has been one of the toughest obstacles I’ve had to face, but by experiencing it, I’ve been able to sharpen my mind and extend influence in more ways than I previously knew how. Recovery has been great and I’m confident that once I’m able to return to play that my game will be even stronger. My ultimate goal is to play volleyball at the collegiate level and progress my game to the highest level possible. Academically, I excel, and look forward to building myself mentally just as much as I’ve built myself physically. I believe and know the experiences I’ve gone through set me apart from my peers and have set me up for success. I’ve experienced adversity and overcome it; therefore, I’ve proven to others, but most importantly myself, that when life inevitably happens I know I’ll be able to get through it stronger than ever. Outside of athletics and academics I am actively involved in my youth group at church and enjoy spending time with friends and family.
