Personal Statement
I’m a class of ‘23 athlete committed to excellence, in the classroom and on the court. People reading this bio should know that I am so much more than a scholar athlete. I am a very determined and selfless individual who desires to make a lifelong, positive contribution to this world. I am socially responsible and active in several community service and non-profit initiatives such as food, school, and clothing drives. I am a natural leader who looks forward to excelling in college as a psychology major; developing many valuable skills and knowledge that will enable me to make significant contributions to the world of healthcare as a clinical psychologist.
About four years ago, I discovered a love for volleyball. I enjoy learning and applying new skills, and the camaraderie that comes with playing with my teams. I am coachable, dependable, and appreciate the competitiveness of the sport.
I began playing volleyball in 7th grade. Through persistence, hard work and dedication, I was voted MVP in my sophomore year and was moved up to varsity right before we went to playoffs. I’m currently a junior and play for Texas Tornados’ 17 National club team, and Stephen F Austin High School (Fort Bend).
I am seeking a college that welcomes diversity and will challenge me academically and athletically. I have a 3.8 GPA and received two Academic Excellence Awards for my freshman and sophomore year. I am also a member of FBISD Equity Coalition, Service for Humanity Society, National Social Studies Honor Society, National English Honor Society, and the Mental Health Club.
I believe that volleyball is a gift - an opportunity for me to impact the lives of others like my teammates, as well as teach me not only skills in the game, but in school and in life. This sport has given me so much and I would be extremely honored if I were given the opportunity to continue my athletic journey at the collegiate level.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Regards,
Zoë Foster
