My name is Caydence “CJ” Barber, graduating from high school in 2027, and with a dream to compete in volleyball at the collegiate level.
From the moment I stepped on the court at age 10, I’ve been driven by a deep passion for volleyball. My journey has been fueled by a relentless work ethic, whether it's traveling 1.5 hours round trip three times a week for almost year-round club practices or pushing myself to compete alongside players several years older than me during their practices with my coach’s permission. These experiences have not only honed my skills but have also instilled in me a sense of dedication and tenacity.
Academically, I maintain a 3.7 GPA out of 4.0, and have been recognized on the National Honor Roll. My academic performance demonstrates my ability to balance the demands of being a student-athlete. My commitment to excellence extends beyond the classroom and the court. As a soloist in choir, piano player, and as a member of my high school debate club, I’ve learned the importance of discipline, practice, and performing under pressure. I understand the importance of being a well-rounded individual, and I bring a positive and energetic attitude to everything I do. Additionally, my roles as captain of my Volleyball Regional Travel Club Team in 2022, 2023, and 2024, and earning a spot on the National Travel Club team in 2023 and 2024 have provided me invaluable leadership experiences.
Another thing I bring to a team is a sense of humor. Laughter can be a powerful tool in building team camaraderie and easing the pressure during intense moments. After all, what's volleyball without a few good laughs or a brief trending dance move during warm-ups???
I’m certain my dedication, leadership, and academic achievements make me a strong candidate for your program. I look forward to potentially contributing to your team's success, and growing both as an athlete and an individual.
Respectfully,
CJ Barber
