Sydney Thompson '20 Recruiting Profile

My name is Sydney Thompson and I am a 6’0” 2020 Middle Blocker/RS recently played up an age level for club on Kent Juniors top 18s team. I moved from Texas six months ago and now go to Tahoma High School in suburban Seattle, Washington. I lived in Austin, Texas for the last 5 years and played for my high school's varsity team there (Lake Travis).

I can’t see my life without volleyball and would love to play at the college level while attending a school with great academics. I am committed to bettering myself as an athlete and person and love training on the sand courts in my free time. I am currently working hard on improving my vertical and am approach touching at 9’11”. I want to pursue psychology in college and eventually get a master's degree in forensic psychology.

On the court, I love to encourage my teammates and aid in whatever way I can, to not only make myself successful but those around me as well. I have been told by my coaches and teammates that I am an immensely positive energy on the court and am never quiet on the bench. As a middle blocker, I communicate with my blockers and move very effectively on the net. I also hope to get more reps on the right side to possibly fulfill a dual role as both middle and right side. I enjoy being able to go into the game and do whatever my coach needs me to do for my team’s success.
