At 5'7", and 135 pounds I've been given the opportunity to earn my talent rather than it be naturally given. In the weight room everyday since freshmen year, the strides and improvement have been clearly visible. For all the weight, jump, and speed training over these years, theres one goal in mind and that is to better myself as an athlete specifically in the game I love, volleyball. Making Varsity freshmen year was the first step to my dream becoming reality. I've faced a challenge of being on a team where all of the competitiveness was taken out towards our own teammates rather than working as one with that drive and conquering it. This is what has built me a player the most, it has pushed me mentally and physically to build on the negatives and make the team become one. I have become a positive influential leader out of my years of being an athlete, which is one of the most valuable things I've brought out of playing the game. The weight room has been my biggest influence, having a lifting coach that has pushed my limits knowing my aspirations of playing college ball has had a huge impact on the skill I have today. Specificity within training has been the reason for my height not being an issue with hitting and blocking. Year to year improvement has been victorious, up to a 23 inch vertical and being our primary outside hitter I have become the athlete I have worked for, and will continue to prepare and better myself to play at a collegiate level. Challenging myself on and off the court, taking above grade level classes, power lifting, and participating in many activities pertaining to influencing and building our community, along with playing volleyball year round, I have proved to others and myself that I am capable of being the student-athlete I have always dreamt of.
