Many things in my life have shaped me into the person that I am today. My family and friends, sports, and church have all taught me valuable lessons which have strengthened my character and will continue to help me be successful in the future.
Some of the most important lessons have been the value of hard work, commitment, and time management. My parents have taught my sisters and I the importance of hard work and commitment – to put the effort into doing everything to the best of our ability at all times, and then to work consistently to develop even further. Hard work and commitment applies to me in school, sports, missions, chores around our property, and all the other things I do. I put my full effort into things because I know that the results I get are a direct reflection of the commitment and hard work that I put in.
With the discipline instilled to always work hard, I’ve had the opportunity to participate and commit to many activities – and doing so has developed my time management skills. It has never been an option in my family to do sports unless we were effectively managing our school work, church activities, and family time and responsibilities. It’s not always been easy, but with the support of those around me, along with hard work, commitment, and time management, I’ve been able to balance it all.
Applying these lessons has had positive results in my life. I’ve been blessed by being able to serve others through missions and community service. I’ve maintained my goal of having a 4.0/4.0 GPA throughout school while taking AP and college courses. I’ve been able to play three varsity sports throughout high school along with club sports. It has also brought me athletic recognition at district and state levels. I’m thankful for these lessons learned, and will continue to apply them because I recognize their value.
