Hi,
My name is Maille Nixon from Bonney Lake, WA, and two of my goals in life are playing volleyball at the collegiate level and becoming a doctor, specifically a surgeon.
Before I tell you why I want to play for your team, I first want to tell you why I play. I first saw volleyball on TV when I was 11 and wanted to try it out. Now I’m 16 and am in my 6th year. I play this sport because of the level of competitiveness that it brings. I also play because I enjoy being someone who inspires and brings positivity to my team on and off the court. Lastly, I play because I love playing for a coach that loves to teach volleyball.
Playing volleyball has helped shape me into the type of person that I am today. It makes me more social and learn how to take on a leadership role in the classroom. It also helps me become more active in trying to keep my grades up because without good grades I wouldn’t be able to play volleyball.
In college, I want to study to become a surgeon. Volleyball will help me be the same student that I am today while pushing me to become better. Time management is one of the most important things when playing a sport and going through school at the same time and I have been successful so far. Playing volleyball while going through college will help me manage my time even better. Then when I get into my internship and residency program as a surgeon I will be successful with time management.
Thank you for reading and have a good day!
