Laurel Cooper '24 Recruiting Profile

My academic goal during my collegiate years is honing my interests into a specific area within social sciences. I look forward to the mentorship and type of professor/ student relationships available at the collegiate level.

The reason I believe I’d be an asset to any team is I bring a strong degree of resilience and perseverance. 

My background mirrors many other candidates. I started very young. My mom photographs for USA Water Polo and I was often on a deck somewhere, not realizing yet the caliber of play I was being exposed to. 

I had opportunities to play outside of the norm. When I was 8 USA water Polo allowed girls to double register for Junior Olympics, so I played for my own team ( TPC), and was also rostered in the all girls session with Wolf Wigo’s Santa Barbara team where we silver medaled and I was named Second team All American. This team was comprised of girls from up and down the CA coast, and I remain in touch with many of them. I learned young that the best part of waterpolo is the camaraderie and team work. From there I played with various ODP teams and cemented my love of polo.
