Personal Statement
Growing up in The Bahamas plays a big part in my love for the water. Ever since I was a baby I was taking swim lessons and soon water polo too. I played in my first tournament at the age of 9; this was quite scary for me as I was the only girl. After some time I started to warm up to it and fell in love with the sport; I quickly learned that I would want to play at the collegiate level some day. I pride myself in being a team player no matter what and know that there is always something new to learn. I am a strong defensive player that can also play good offense when needed. Since I am one of the captains on my club team, I think that I am a good leader and use my power to help better other players and the quality of the team. At the age of 12 I started volunteering as a coach for my club team; I started with younger groups of kids and now moving up age groups. I've made this my job for the past several years and love to see how they each progress over time. Academically, I set personal goals and standards for myself for each class, making sure that I have a good GPA at all times. I have found a love for psychology and hope to major in the field.
