I jumped into the pool for my first competitive swim meet at the age of 6 and have been an aquaholic ever since. My year-round swim coach would sometimes end our swim practices with a fun Water Polo game, and although it wasn't exactly the water polo I play now, I was instantly hooked. Three years ago, I became tired of the monotonous pace of swimming up and down the pool and asked my mom if we could go to a water polo summer clinic. A new love for water polo and the water soon swelled in me once again. In those short 3 years I have joined the NC Select Team (the only girl to do so), have competed in 2 Junior Olympics, competed on the NCSU Club team and in many other tournaments.
I also have a love for the classroom. Throughout High School I have maintained all A honor roll along with consistently being in the top 1% of my class. I hold a special place for the sciences (specifically those medically related) and work hard to be involved inside and outside of the classroom. Currently, I hold the position of Student Body President.
Outside of the classroom a majority of my time is dedicated to volunteering or sports. Often times, I drive 30 minutes to 2 hours to hit a practice. I also find great joy in helping others. I can often be found planning a prom for the special needs programs in our county or educating young girls or peers through my position as a Senior Girl Scout.
I am looking for a college experience that will challenge me physically and mentally. I love to rise to the challenge, and be pushed near or at (and sometimes beyond) my limits. I willingly give 110% every time I step into the pool or the classroom, and that will not falter as I get older. I am one of the hardest working and most motivated recruits you will come to find. In the future, I hope to make my parents and coaches proud, but above that myself.
